The traffic bollard is a common German street icon. It is an interesting form and has a multi-functional role in society.
For this project I wanted to remove the bollard from its original position on the street and decorate it in a material as far removed from it's traditional grey metallic surface as possible.
By changing the bollards' material to glass, the bollard is immediately rendered useless in its conventional role as a street bollard. This hopefully allows the viewer to consider the bollards aesthetic qualities, rather than simply it's function.
The imagery on the surface of the glass UNTERWEG decanters is derived from the urban landscape, surrounding the street bollards.
Each is unique. This is a limited series of 50 decanters.
